My first experience with Terre d’Hermès began in a Sephora in Memphis, TN in 2023. After being bored with my collection, I needed a new feature scent. My go-to before this was L’Instant de Guerlain EDT, which I wore religiously until my bottle ran out. After some experimenting with the EDT and Parfum versions, I finally settled on the latter as my signature scent.
After initially loving it while in the storm, I couldn’t quite figure it out once I started wearing it regularly the first couple of days. However, by day 3, my mind completely changed and I became a disciple to the church of Terre d’Hermès, while instantly understanding exactly how to describe this fragrance. This wonderful fragrance is a richer, deeper evolution of the now legendary EDT. It intensifies the earthy warmth and woody gravitas that defines the original and dials back the sparkle in favor of ambery, resinous depth and velvety woods, making it smoother, denser, and aimed towards a more mature audience. The parfum is grounded, introspective, and commanding and the definitive version for those who want experience elegance with staying power. I get a small hit of confidence each time I get a whiff of it while wearing Terre d’Hermès.
And as much as I love this fragrance, do we really need something more intense?
Terre D’Hermès Eau de Parfum Intense
Apparently, the answer is yes. Released a couple of months ago, Terre d’Hermès Eau de Parfum Intense is supposed to be a more deep, intense version of the original. Perfumer Christine Nagel talked in a piece for vogue about being inspired by volcanoes to create a more intense but intimate side of the fragrance. Even with the mixed reviews I’ve read here and there, I trust the creations of Nagel as I own both H24 & H24 Herbes Vives and I find them both to somehow be similar while having different use cases.
I’ll get a chance to try this fragrance for the very first time this weekend as a friend of mine is bringing it for me to sample and a review will definitely follow. If I can get what the parfum offers along with a twist that still firmly separates it from the original DNA, I’ll be excited.
